I don’t need the depth afforded by BetterSnapTool, and I love HyperDock’s dock-centric features. That said, HyperDock is the app that I’ve decided to use on a long term basis. I’ve personally used all of the options listed in this post, and I can make a good case for using each of them depending on your needs. While keyboard shortcuts are nice to have as an alternative option, I much prefer to use dragging to initiate window snapping in my workflow. The downside to using Spectacle is that it only works via the menu bar or keyboard shortcuts, and doesn’t allow you to drag windows to the edge of the screen to initiate snapping. If you’re in need of a free OS X window snapping option, you might consider taking Spectacle for a test drive. Keep in mind that the App Store version has a slightly reduced feature set due to App Store restrictions. HyperDock is available on the Mac App Store for $6.99 or for $6.95 via its website with a free trial. Although HyperDock isn’t as deep as BetterSnapTool when it comes to window snapping, when combined with its other abilities, it’s quite the compelling option. But HyperDock isn’t just about adding new features to the Dock, as it also contains window snapping features. We’ve covered HyperDock in the past, primarily for its ability to show window previews of apps running in the OS X dock. If you’re serious about window snapping and want the deepest experience available, then BetterSnapTool is the app for you.īetterSnapTool lets users define custom snap areas HyperDock It not only features keyboard shortcuts, appearance customizations, and modifier support, but it most notably allows users to create their own custom-defined snap areas. Video walkthroughīetterSnapTool is a $2.99 app that takes the idea of window snapping to the next level. Magnet is simple, but it does feature the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts to any window snapping area available. If you’re looking for an inexpensive option that’s solely focused on window snapping, then you can’t go wrong with Magnet, a $0.99 app on the Mac App Store that runs in the menu bar. Unfortunately, Split view is limited to just two apps, and doesn’t compare 1:1 with true window snapping in a variety of other key ways. Split View is a nice option to have, but it simply doesn’t compete with the flexibility and customization afforded by many of the window snapping apps that we highlight below. To be fair, Apple did implement a Split View function in OS X El Capitan, which allows you to use full screen apps side-by-side. Even though Apple doesn’t natively support it, window snapping is available on the Mac via a variety of third-party apps. This feature was first popularized by Microsoft’s Aero Snap on Windows. Window snapping allows you to position windows in specific areas of the screen, usually by dragging the window to the edge of the screen, causing the window to “snap” into place. Afterwards, I received several tweets and emails asking how to perform window snapping, since this is not a feature that appears natively in OS X. Yesterday, we wrote a post about hiding the menu bar, and in the corresponding video tutorial, we used window snapping to highlight one of the benefits of a hidden menu bar.

Some people are unable to handle rejection and failure, and those are normally the ones who only last a year or two (or less) in the business. The key word being, realistic! A broker should be able to assist in setting realistic goals!īy setting unrealistic expectations, new agents are often “let-down” after they fall severely short of their lofty expectations. Setting realistic goals is an absolute in real estate. While possible, it’s a very long shot that this is actually what happens for new real estate agents. Many new real estate agents come into the business having visions of being the top real estate agent in their office in their first year. Having unrealistic expectations is a very common mistake made by new real estate agents entering the business, but also, a very common mistake made by buyers and sellers. What Do You Expect to Accomplish in Real Estate? Having Unrealistic Expectations Often Leads to Failure in Real Estate! Consider what your expectations will be before obtaining a real estate license! These “dues” are generally a yearly expense. Like the licensing course, the cost varies from state-to-state, but generally will range between $800-$1200. Each real estate board is different, however, there will be costs associated with joining, sometimes known as “dues.” These costs can include things such as fees to use the local Multiple Listing Service (MLS), fees to the State’s Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. Bottom line, there likely will be additional “start-up” costs once you find a broker to “hold your license,” and it’s important to find out exactly what the fees and charges will be, so ask! Just like it is so important that a buyer or seller hire the “correct” real estate agent, it’s as important when considering a career in real estate, you select the “correct” broker for your situation!Īfter finding a sponsoring broker, the next step is joining the local real estate board. Each broker will also have different commission splits and agreements with their agents, often based on what their fees and charges are. These fees can include items such as a “desk fee,” charges for copies, or charges for an office. Every real estate company has different monthly fees, quarterly fees, yearly fees, etc. Once the real estate license is obtained, the costs start adding up. After obtaining a real estate license, the next step is finding a sponsoring broker or real estate company who will “hold your license,” or simply put, hire you. After passing the 75 hour course and exam, a state exam must be passed with a score of 70% or greater. The cost for licensing courses, generally, ranges between $450-$600 for the course hours and text books. The 75 hour course ends with a final examination. For example, New York State requires that a 75 hour licensing course is completed. Each state, town, and area will have different costs and rules associated with getting a real estate license, but are fairly similar. Thinking about the costs involved in getting into real estate is an extremely important thing to consider before doing so! It’s fairly inexpensive to obtain a real estate license. What “Start-Up” Costs Are Involved in Real Estate? Here are some of the most important things to consider beforehand! There are many things that need to be taken into consideration before getting a real estate license. There are many things that a successful real estate agent does on a daily basis, that the general public doesn’t know about! Selling real estate is more than driving clients around town and opening doors. It’s been said many times by new real estate agents, “I like looking at houses, so I’ll be a good real estate agent.” Another one is, “I watch HGTV and watch all sorts of real estate TV shows, so I know I’ll be a good Real Estate Agent!” This is wrong as well. Many new agents don’t last long in the business because they don’t stop and think what exactly is needed to be successful in the business. New real estate agents enter the business on a daily basis and real estate agents leave the business on a daily basis. Many have “Illusions of Grandeur!” Simply put, this is wrong. As a real estate agent you are the hero when you bring a seller a full price offer on their home that you are selling.īeing a real estate agent is often seen by many as someone who has an easy job and makes boatloads of money. The chance to give a first time home buyer the keys to their new home is priceless. As a real estate agent, you are helping buyer’s and seller’s with one of the largest transactions, if not the largest, they will ever experience in their life. Real estate can be a very fulfilling profession. Before Getting a Real Estate License, Consider the Following! If you experiencing connection timeout error messages, check the nginx configuration in the web container. So contained inside the POD cannot bind the same port. If you have multiple containers inside a POD, you have to use localhost to reach one container from another. Since we will have only one POD and multiple containers inside it, we should use localhost to reach another component. At the and of this post I will share you an example coturn configuration. And so it is not with a light heart that I say, it is time to say goodbye. It’s been fun iBiz, you’ve helped many, including all of our internal team who keep track of their hours with it. However, it is clear now, we don’t have the resources to give it the attention it deserves. iBiz continued to receive fixes for a few bugs and to ensure it worked with the latest Mac OS. We kept updating iBiz and even released iBiz 4.0 in 2009. IBiz 2 (formerly known as iWork) circa 2008.ĭuring the next 7 or so years, iBank continued to grow, went through several very important re-writes and eventually became our flagship product. iBiz continued to be the bread and butter for the company, and I hired my first employee who is still with us today :-). I worked endlessly on iWork and iBank iWork eventually changed to iBiz. At this point I moved to Vermont to settle down and get serious about software. After one year as a post-doc, I took the leap of faith: I left academia to form and work on IGG full-time. But I was still a one-man shop trying to juggle a lot of work. Skip ahead a few years and by the time I was graduated and working on a post-doc, iWork and iBank were making a significant contribution to my monthly income. And although it was pretty simple at this point, especially compared to iBiz today, it still had some neat features for its time, such as 1-click emailing of invoices and an idle timer. iWork was a big success and continued to grow in popularity. I developed it to version 3.0 and then the next iteration was a complete re-write, called iWork. However, I still continued to chase my other little passion, to make AtWork better and better. I continued to make a few bucks a day, but certainly not enough to consider “going indie.” Besides, I was happy plugging away on my dissertation and chasing rare plants around southern California. I continually updated and improved upon AtWork and pushed new builds to my file server. I could hardly believe it! In a lot of ways, selling this first app marks the very beginning of IGG. The first day I posted it, I sold one copy. I found the app quite useful so I decided I would put it up on the internet and charge $6 for it. You probably get where this story is going and alas, AtWork was born. As an early OS X adopter (early as in, I installed the first beta) I was frustrated that there wasn’t an app to track the time I was spending writing reports - time I ultimately needed to bill back to the client. The fun part of the job was hiking around botanizing, the not so fun part was writing a report back at home. Occasionally on the weekends and between classes I would survey for rare plants as a side gig. Over a decade ago I was a graduate student studying biology and plant population modeling. The story of iBiz is really the story of how IGG started.
However, if your purchase Gemini 2 with an app suite like Setapp, it’ll be more beneficial as the Setapp suite includes dozens of apps to improve the productivity and efficiency of Macs. To use the complete version of the app, you will have to dish out about $20. You can use a trial mode as described above. On a minor note, the Gemini 2 isn’t available for free. Apart from this, the app itself doesn’t take up much space or processing power. So you won’t be able to do much while the scan is running. When Gemini 2 is scanning your files, CPU usage can shoot up to 80 percent or more. The biggest of these (and perhaps the only one) is that the app takes up a hefty amount of CPU capacity. But like all apps, it comes with a few downsides. You can easily browse these similar files and decide on which to delete and what to keep. If you store photos, for example, some files may only have slight differences, but they might still be important to retain. The reviewing process eliminates the problem of accidentally deleting an important file. The scan speed isn’t lightning fast, but it’s reasonably quick. If your Mac has fairly large files in bulk, it may take around 15 minutes. The app typically takes less than 10 minutes to complete a scan. The runtime really depends on the size and type of files on your Mac. When you open Gemini 2, there will be a giant button for scanning your computer for duplicate files. The free mode allows you to delete 500MB of duplicates in total. The app is available in a trial mode for a test run. It’s extremely simple to use, even if you are a complete Mac noob. Gemini 2 comes with a highly user-friendly interface. The app also comes with a “Smart Select” tool that will identify duplicates automatically and get rid of them. Users can individually examine scan results and select files to delete. It is capable of rapidly scanning through even the largest files without taking up an entire day. The app is not just a scan and delete tool. Gemini 2 promises to find duplicates stored in even the remotest corners of your Mac. It’s an app that Mac users can download from Setapp to locate and remove duplicate files. The sales pitch for the Gemini 2 is quite straightforward. Let’s look at how this particular Mac app fares in practice: Gemini 2 from Macpaw is a frontline tool you can use against duplicates stored on your Mac. Scrubbing duplicate files on your Mac can save up significant amounts of storage space and keep your machine running at optimal speeds. Most people use their Macs to store media files like photographs and video. One of the top space-hogging culprits on Macs is the duplicate file. The easiest thing the average Mac user can do is to keep files in order and get rid of anything that is not strictly necessary. Some ingenious Mac fans have found various workarounds to this problem. If you are attached to your Mac like most people, you would enjoy a speedy performance at the expense of limited storage space. This situation poses a dilemma for dedicated Mac users. Along with these great features offered by flash storage comes a major caveat: limited storage capacity. The amazing benefits of SSDs, like quick bootup times, are well-documented. If you purchased your Mac in the past two or three years, chances are you have a machine with an SSD and flash storage. To remove a file or application on Mac, people can choose to manually drag the target from Applications folder to the Trash (drag it from the DOCK does not work for the app removal), however, this is usually not able to clean a program completely on the computer. Conventional way: manually remove AppCleaner To remove the uninstall utility on Mac, we would like to introduce two available ways to get rid of it, and it is suggested to use the more effective and easier way to perform the removal on your computer, which is also important for protecting your computer system as well as avoiding deleting the wrong files mistakenly. How can uninstall AppCleaner for good on the Mac There isn’t a way to uninstall AppCleaner successfully and thoroughly.AppCleaner’s files like preferences and caches are left behind after taking the removal. It does not work for dragging it to the Trash. Their bonuses will do wonders for your team’s overall DPS (damage per second), so you should definitely be leveraging what they have to offer.įor an early-game triangle formation, you can have the Hermit in front (and benefiting from additional DPS because there’s no one in front of him), the Princess and Sasha in the middle row, and Jim the Lumberjack and Artaxes the Lion among your back-row characters. If you’re using the Bushwhacker, that’s fine, though you can replace him with any other hero if you need more DPS. Once you reach the mid-point of the game, there will be more heroes for you to choose from, better and more powerful heroes who could do more good for you by way of DPS. Jim the Lumberjack can still be placed in the back row, and should be a staple of your formations regardless of what stage of the game you are in.Īt this point, you can do away with the Bushwhacker and the Hermit, who would no longer be that useful, even with the bonus for being a frontliner. Likewise, Sasha and the Princess are good to have on your formation for a good portion of the game. Working off the triangle formation once again, we suggest having Princess in front, the Gold Panda among your characters in the second row, Sasha in the second or third row, and Jim and Artaxes among the back row heroes. Once you’ve got all the heroes unlocked, that’s going to start the late stage of the game at this point, you want your team to be mainly comprised of higher-level Crusaders. Focus on making them better, but since it’s advisable for you to keep Jim in your formation for as long as possible, he should be fairly high-level at this point as well. Once again, he can be positioned in the back, while the front row can be occupied by Natalie Dragon. That’s because she can provide quite a healthy bonus to her sibling Nate, who can be positioned alongside Jim in the fourth and last row. As for the middle rows, the Gold Panda and Sasha the Warrior again make good choices, same with Khouri the Witch Doctor. There are obviously many formation types and many ways for you to set things up and come up with a winning formation. But that’s where experimentation comes in, as you can greatly impact your team’s DPS simply by switching one Crusader’s spot with that of another. |
